Split Tech City is a community composed of well-intentioned and progressive companies, startups, associations, initiatives, institutions and individuals. Together we encourage and develop the IT sector of Split and the surrounding region.
Support our communityAs is our custom, we reflect on the happenings in our Mediterranean Tech Hub every three months. This year we did so in April and now, suddenly – it’s time to do it again because we’re already past the half-year mark.
So, let’s see what happened during Spring in the Split Tech City community! 🙂
At the beginning of this month, we gave you an overview of “Design Building Blocks” – a worthwhile program of workshops and lectures for all aspiring young designers. And, on the other end of the IT spectrum, there was the first-ever Split Tech City DEV Night.
April was also the month when the Split Tech City team brought a dash of Split to the DK Festival (Dani komunikacija) in Rovinj. 😀
As far as the interesting news and articles go, we announced BlockSplit5, shared the news of top Money Motion startups, guided you to Culture Hub Croatia’s visual arts workshop, and tipped you off about another edition of Design+Science Summer School. And our volunteer Ana Knezović shared some insights on dopamine addiction.
Our members also shared worthwhile news with us: SeekandHit won the IAB MIXX Best in Show award at the DK Festival and the EPAM team shared a learning opportunity with all of you – their EPAM Campus program.
But we must say that the most important piece of writing we shared in April is definitely the Split Tech City community case study with Postindustria. 🙂
In which this engaging and active team shared the ins and outs of being a member of the Split Tech City community. Go give it a read if you haven’t already!
We started May with some answers to tax-related questions for startups courtesy of the Split Tech city member Kancelarija. Next up we shared the announcements for LEAP Summit (which our president Toni Trivković attended and brought some inspiration from it for this year’s Festival), the final BlockSplit5 program, and the one that kickstarted the STup!2024 applications.
With the announcement of this year’s DUMP Days, Reg3 Split, and CIET conference, it was evident we stepped into May – jokingly known as “the conference month”. 😀
Split Tech City community members were also busy, but none more than the SeekandHit crew who brought us the first-ever MeasureCamp!
On the artistic side of things, we shared an interview with the members of the DVK Association that our volunteer Paula Srdanović did, as well as the announcement for the launch of another edition of Kàko independent magazine.
The eventful Split Tech City month was wrapped up with a visit from the students from the University of Colorado Boulder. As part of their Academics Program International, we were invited by their coordinator to present the work of Split Tech City and Split’s tech community.
May being the “conference month” means it often happens that we begin June by reflecting on the events that happened in May. This year was no different – we shared our impressions from DUMP Days and BlockSplit.
But soon it was time for another great tech event: tech.coffee! 🙂
tech.coffee is the rebrand of OpenCoffee Split and its first (rebranded) edition featured Thorstein Nordby.
To stay on a more “deep tech” track, we shared the announcement of the Global DevOps Experience 2024 happening in Split but then switched to the artistic side of things with the news of another edition of NoMAD MOVIE ART in collaboration with DVK and FMFS.
And, on a more soft-skills aspect, our volunteer writer Ana Knezović guided you through learned helplessness and how to avoid its traps.
June was also startup time! Meaning it was finally time for our favorite startup competition – STup!2024. But first – Split Startups Meetup! This year we joined in the STup! fun by offering the startup teams a fun networking reprieve before the two competition days.
Check it out in this fun video by Julio Juraga!
As it turns out, that relaxing was just what they needed because they aced STup! this year! 😀
On the Split Tech City community side of things, we announced two new partnerships: Eyes of Sturba and TEAPETRArt. And our community member Adriatic.hr aced the digital marketing football pitches with their Kick4Adriatic campaign even when our actual football team did not do the same on the fields of UEFA Euro2024.
But the most important piece of June news? The announcement of the 4th Split Tech City Festival! 😀
The Super Early Bird tickets disappeared fast, but you still have the chance to grab your ticket at a discounted price because we released a batch of Early Bird tickets. Also to note – we did not raise ticket prices.
The fun and inspiration of the Split Tech City Festival remain the same, and so does the price you pay for it! 😉
So, mark your calendars for 6 and 7 September and the 4th edition of the #STCFestival and we’ll see you at Bačvice Open-Air Cinema for a huge dose of #SplitTechCityLifestyle full of inspiration, motivation, and great networking!
