We always do a brief overview of the four three-month periods in a year, and this year is no different. With a glance back we shared in March and again in June, it’s now the time to peek back at the last three months and see all that has happened during July, August, and September.

And yes, the 2024 edition of the Split Tech City Festival has played a central role in this show. However, that is not the only thing we dedicated our time and effort to.

So, without further ado, let’s check out the highlights of the third quarter of this year!

July

Aside from kicking our Festival preparations into high gear, in July, we brought you some other interesting news and stories. We shared the newest success of the team from Culture Hub Croatia: they opened T29 – their new coworking and event space.

Our volunteer Paula Srdanović shared the (Still ongoing!) news about Gifted English – a very worthwhile IT project you also can join.

In order to give you some different perspectives on a certain calling, we spoke with Goran Pavlov who shared the ins and outs of being a Design Sprint Facilitator. And, in Split Tech City Community news, SeekandHit honored and celebrated years of employee dedication.

August

August brought further Festival preparations as well as some important Mediterranean Tech Hub news: Technology Park Split opened its doors!

The hardworking team from Culture Hub Croatia hosted their first Croatian Language Workshop which ended up being turned into a full-on course for foreigners. If you are either a digital nomad or an international willing to learn Croatian, make sure you check it out!

Our volunteer writer Suzana Špika shared a positive outlook on the “Era of the Great Gloom”.

And we also had time for another edition of Women In Tech in collaboration with ELEKS and Kateryna in which we tried to master women’s leadership by achieving balance in work and life.

Festival

The Split Tech City Festival is like another month. Joking! 😀

It’s not that dramatic, but it does deserve its own spotlight in these particular three months of the year.

We guided you through the Festival preparation by highlighting last year’s edition as well as that from 2022. We introduced you to each and every segment of the pre-program and the main stage program. And you got to meet the sponsors as well as the experience partners of this year’s Split Tech City Festival.

You also had a blast at the Festival – if the feedback we got is anything to go by! 😀

September

Aside from the Split Tech City Festival, another big event of Split’s tech community was the Tinel Open.

But events didn’t stop there as September was a month with important announcements for the events in October: the return of both Motion Plus Design Split and the CYAN Festival of Visual Culture.

Our volunteer writer Paula spiced up our news with a bit of artistic flair connecting Portuguese heritage and typography in her interview with Rita Correia.

September was also application time for many things such as the CASSINI Hackathon on Environment & Green Transition, INTERACTIONS 2024, the European Prize for Women Innovators, the Sarajevo Innovations Festival, and the Investment Readiness Program of AI4Health.Cro.

We hope all interested managed to seize these opportunities! 😉

Finally, one of the most important announcements of this past month was the fact that our young friends from Jedna Mladost have their own space and need our help to equip it.

And you can still do that! 😉

Well, that’s a brief glance back at the past three months while Split Tech City continues working on community building and ensuring Split’s bright future. Make sure you continue keeping an eye on our website for all the updates on our steadily growing Mediterranean Tech Hub.

Onwards and up! 😀

Researching is woven into my DNA, but I am a musician at heart. Interested in too many things and always curious. Forever in love with Split and enchanted by people who teach me new things. When I am not creating content about Split's tech community, you will find me in singing rehearsals, somewhere in nature, in the theater, or with my head stuck in a book. I do my best to live by the verse from the opera "Fedora" by Umberto Giordano: "Love forbids you not to love."
