Split Tech Cup 2022: cage ball, app testing, and good deeds!

11.11.2022.

We have stepped into November, so it’s safe to say that this year is slowly – or quickly, depending on your point of view – coming to its end. And that means it’s about time for us to start preparing for the final big Split Tech City event of the year – the Split Tech Cup! 😀

The 2022 edition of our favorite cage ball tournament will take place on December 4th from 16:00 at the Sports Center Mačak which is once more Split Tech City’s partner in organizing this charity event.

Like its previous editions, held in 2018, 2019, and 2021, this humanitarian cage ball tournament’s sole purpose is to gather funds for buying laptops for children whose families don’t have the means to do so – while hanging out and having fun playing cage ball.

This won’t change in 2022, either! 🙂

However, we will introduce a minor change this year. And it relates to another “project with a purpose”. This year’s edition of the Split Tech Cup will be a test event for the launch of the app being developed by DonatQR in our collaborative EU project Digital Volunteer Community.

The DonatQR team has been hard at work developing the app whose purpose is to systemize and automate three types of campaigns related to volunteering and charity. The ultimate goal is for civil society organizations to be able to utilize the app to create campaigns for financial donations, physical donations, and volunteer actions.

The additional benefit of the app is that it will also help potential donors and volunteers find their chosen cause more easily, and donate their funds, goods, or time without too much hassle.

Aside from that slight change, all the rest remains the same!

Teams can apply to the tournament if they wish to financially support this cause by paying the donation fee. Rest assured the full amount will be used for the cause! 😀

Once the app by our friends from DonatQR is ready to start receiving your applications, we will announce the application process and detailed instructions.

We hope you will support the cause behind the Split Tech Cup and this first test event for the Digital Volunteer Community project!

The overall goal of the Digital Volunteer Community project is to aid the digitization and transformation of civil society organizations in the field of organization and management of volunteer activities.

The Digital Volunteer Community project is financed by grants totaling HRK 462,648.00, with HRK 393,250.80 HRK coming from the ESF and HRK 69,397.20 being covered from the state budget through the call “Strengthening the capacity of CSOs for responding to the needs of the local community“.

Through this Digital Volunteer Community project lasting 14 months, until the end of May 2023, a whole series of free educational activities are planned to strengthen the capacity of employees and volunteers in CSOs.

Researching is woven into my DNA, but I am a musician at heart. Interested in too many things and always curious. Forever in love with Split and enchanted by people who teach me new things. When I am not creating content about Split's tech community, you will find me in singing rehearsals, somewhere in nature, in the theater, or with my head stuck in a book. I do my best to live by the verse from the opera "Fedora" by Umberto Giordano: "Love forbids you not to love."
