Once more the work Split Tech City does was recognized as interesting and valuable, so we were asked to present what we do at the Work. Place. Culture. Conference. that is taking place in Dubrovnik on May 5th to 7th.

Work. Place. Culture. Conference.

Work. Place. Culture. is a conference which brings work from anywhere to absolutely everywhere. It gathered remote professionals and destinations from around the world at a three-day event in Dubrovnik to inspire a global workforce who have greater location flexibility than ever before, and to showcase destinations that are reinventing to support the digital nomad movement through policy, infrastructure, and community.

Several movers and shakers in the global remote work industry are attending Work. Place. Culture. as speakers and panelists.

The conference is part of the continued collaboration between the City of Dubrovnik, Dubrovnik Tourist Board, Saltwater Nomads, Digital Nomad Association Croatia, and Total Croatia News, with support from the Digital Nomad Association Croatia and Dubrovačka Baština.

The work of Split Tech City

As the first formal association of Split’s tech community which includes more than 70 companies, associations, institutions, meetups, and individuals, we believe that Split is more than meets the eye – it’s not just sunny weather, fabulous history, and the beautiful blue sea.

So, by encouraging connections and sharing of information and knowledge within our community and beyond, we are working towards Split’s recognition as a Mediterranean Tech Hub.

It was quite challenging to summarize the work we do in a 90-second presentation, but we did our best! 😀

Aside from the content we create to showcase the vivaciousness of Split’s growing tech ecosystem, we also organize lectures, workshops, panel discussions, OpenCoffee meetups, Motivational Conference for Split’s youth, Summer Internship presentations, Locals’n’Nomads meetups, TechTerranean Morning Coffee meetups, and the crown jewel of our work – the Festival of Technology and Entrepreneurship.

Because Split Tech City nurtures the concept of information and knowledge sharing, a year ago we decided to launch a monthly meetup connecting Split’s digital nomads and locals – aptly named “Locals’n’Nomads” – where we showcase not only Split’s tech scene, but also its culture and way of life.

On top of that, we have also recently initiated TechTerranean – an international online community with an even broader scope – one that includes everyone interested in life here, Split as a city, and its growing tech scene.

We’d like to thank the organizers of Work. Place. Culture. for giving us the opportunity to present our work at such a great international event!

Researching is woven into my DNA, but I am a musician at heart. Interested in too many things and always curious. Forever in love with Split and enchanted by people who teach me new things. When I am not creating content about Split's tech community, you will find me in singing rehearsals, somewhere in nature, in the theater, or with my head stuck in a book. I do my best to live by the verse from the opera "Fedora" by Umberto Giordano: "Love forbids you not to love."
