After we brought the Women In Tech meetup back in March this year with the intention of making it a quarterly meetup, the time has come for its newest edition. We do hope you’re ready! So – basics first!

This edition of the Women In Tech meetup will be held on Thursday, June 15th, at Smartspace coworking with the start time being 19:00. You can sign up to attend via this form!

The Women In Tech meetup was originally created because the community recognized the unique challenges girls and women still face in tech-related fields.

This meetup is one of the many projects of Split Tech City and the primary goal of Women In Tech is to direct young girls towards tech occupations, as well as to connect women who are already working in the tech industry.

No matter where you are in your professional development, or what tech-related field you are in, this Split Tech City’s event for women and girls in the tech industry offers a broad range of support and resources to advance women in technology from the classroom to working in the field of their choosing.

In addition, because career and study decisions are made early in life, to increase the number of women in technology, it is widely recognized that action is required already during schooling.

Therefore, it is important to offer young girls role models in the form of women who are already working in this field – the Women In Tech meetup is just the right thing for that!

While not closed for male attendees, the Women In Tech meetup is based on the assumption that young girls and women would rather choose to attend an event if they were surrounded by other girls and women.

So, everyone is welcome, even men, but this remains an event that celebrates and encourages women!

Now that we gave you a brief glimpse into what this event is all about, let’s focus on its June edition. Similar to the Women In Tech meetup we held in March, we will have another panel discussion followed by an abundance of networking.

The panel discussion is titled “Different stories, same experiences?” and will offer varied perspectives on working in tech.

Our panelists are Alessia Amanzi who is a designer at Profico, Maja Giljanović the marketing manager at Agilno, and Stela Zorić who works as a QA at GetByBus.

The ladies will share insights into their own professions, the day-to-day of their work in tech, the obstacles they’ve overcome, and the tips they have for future girls and women in tech.

They will be guided through sharing their stories by the panel moderator Sara Dyson, founder of Expat In Croatia, the go-to person for all internationals who want to live in Croatia, and the winner of the Influential Women of Croatia 2023 Award for Entrepreneurship.
