Split Tech City is a community composed of well-intentioned and progressive companies, startups, associations, initiatives, institutions and individuals. Together we encourage and develop the IT sector of Split and the surrounding region.
Support our communityAnd it was about time, don’t you agree?! We’re happy this meetup is making a comeback, and we’re sure you will be, too. For those who never attended one, let’s briefly go over what Women In Tech stands for. 🙂
The Women In Tech meetup was originally created because the community recognized the unique challenges girls and women still face in tech-related fields.
This meetup is one of the many projects of Split Tech City and the primary goal of Women In Tech is to direct young girls towards tech occupations, as well as to connect women who are already working in the tech industry.
No matter where you are in your professional development, or what tech-related field you are in, this Split Tech City’s event for women and girls in the tech industry offers a broad range of support and resources to advance women in technology from the classroom to working in the field of their choosing.
In addition, because career and study decisions are made early in life, to increase the number of women in technology, action is required already during schooling.
Therefore, it is important to offer young girls role models in the form of women who are already working in this field – the Women In Tech meetup is just the right thing for that!
While not closed for male attendees, the Women In Tech meetup is based on the assumption that young girls and women would rather choose to attend an event if they were surrounded by other girls and women.
To bring the Women In Tech meetup back in style, we have decided to make it international by having its content be in English and to make it powerful by having the topic of discussion be “The Power of Female Entrepreneurship”! 😀
The date we chose is March 7th – because women should be celebrated and empowered every day and not just on International Women’s Day. And the location is The Works Coworking because it is a female-run business.
So, March 7th at The Works Coworking starting from 18:00 – don’t wait and think about it, but sign up and attend! 😀
The program includes a panel discussion, audience questions, and networking. And everyone is welcome, especially women and girls!
The panelists are three young female entrepreneurs and startup founders from Split – Nikolina Barada (Evala), Ena Melvan (MetaBelly), and Vanja Perić (AymoLive) – while the moderator is Pinija Poljaković (Art Media), also a female entrepreneur.
Therefore, you can expect a lively and empowering discussion! 😉
After the official part of the program ends, the evening will continue with networking. And who knows who you’re going to meet – a possible future mentor, a woman that will inspire you to go into tech, a new friend,…
Whoever you end up meeting, one thing is certain with Women In Tech – you’ll definitely meet a lot of people who will be there to support each other. 🙂
What are you waiting for?! Sign up! Can’t wait to see you at Women In Tech!
