Split Tech City Festival: Panel Discussion

Split Tech City

Split Tech City

10.08.2023.

So far we have introduced you to the first two speakers that we will hear from during the International Day of the Split Tech City Festival.

You have gotten to know Andreas, as well as found out a bit more about the interesting topics he will discuss on September 9th during the #STCFestival at Bačvice Open-Air Cinema. So, the time has come to introduce another segment of this year’s program – the panel discussion.

Its title? “International Side of Split”!

The tourism? No. We’re talking about the year-round international side of Split!

So, during this panel discussion, you will have the opportunity to hear about Split as an international city, not from the point of view of tourism, as we are used to, but through the perspective of people who moved to Split from various parts of the world and consciously chose it as their place to live.

We will get an insight into their arrival in Croatia and adaptation to life here, the obstacles they faced – both privately and in business, what encouraged them to engage in entrepreneurship in Croatia, and the positive things that Split and its residents have enchanted them with and thus “forced” them to stay and call this city their home.

Our panelists for this engaging discussion are:

  • Jan Bodnar – Slovakian entrepreneur and the co-founder of Unique People, one of the many tech companies in Split
  • Geoff Bratton – an entrepreneur born in California, the co-owner of Fig restaurants, and the co-founder of the Association of Foreign Entrepreneurs
  • Sara Dyson – founder of Expat in Croatia originally from Texas, co-founder of the Association of Foreign Entrepreneurs, winner of the Influential Women of Croatia award for 2023
  • Piero Palevsky – founder of Poma and Staff Software Engineer originally from Boston

They will be expertly guided through the richness of this discussion topic by none other than Michael Freer who is an entrepreneur born in the United Kingdom, founder of the company ENSOCO which deals with social entrepreneurship, co-founder of the Split youth association “Jedna Mladost” and the MC of various events in English that happen here in Split (and elsewhere).

The only thing that you need to do to be introduced to this different side of Split is to go get your #STCFestival ticket!

See you at Bačvice Open-Air Cinema on September 9th – in Split as you never saw it but which we know exists! 😀
