Support our communityCASSINI Hackathons & Mentoring is part of a new European Commission initiative that supports innovative entrepreneurs, startups, micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises working in space technology. CASSINI Hackathons are a series of semi-annual events that explore global challenges through the use of European space technologies.
Each hackathon is a hybrid event held simultaneously at 10 different locations across Europe.
The goal is to bring together young entrepreneurs, technologists, and researchers from all over Europe, providing them with a stimulating environment to develop innovative applications and familiarize themselves with European space programs.
Participants will gain essential knowledge, including special sessions on how to access space data and services. Additionally, training sessions will be organized to help participants effectively present their competitive solutions.
This year’s theme is “Space for the Environment and Green Transition” inviting participants to develop solutions using satellite data to promote sustainability and environmental protection.
Earth observation data from Copernicus, positioning and navigation services from Galileo and EGNOS, and new capabilities from the upcoming IRIS2 provide participants with unique tools to tackle global environmental challenges.
During the Hackathon, participants will have the opportunity to attend workshops, meet with mentors, and receive training on using space data. They will also present their solutions to the public.
Participants in the 7th CASSINI Hackathon in Croatia will compete for the grand prize of €3,000. At the European level, the top three teams will win a total cash prize – 1st place: €5,000, 2nd place: €3,000, 3rd place: €1,000 – and gain access to the CASSINI Mentoring program. This six-month program includes 100 hours of mentorship from top experts, aiming to turn your hackathon project into a successful business venture.
The competition is open to students, entrepreneurs, startups, researchers, and anyone interested in developing sustainable technologies. No prior experience with hackathons or advanced technologies is necessary – anyone over 18 years old can apply, either individually or in a team. For those without a team, team formation will be handled by the organizers.
Applications are open until September 12, 2024, through the registration link. Don’t miss this opportunity – join the CASSINI Hackathon, develop your ideas, meet new people, and win €3,000!
Algebra University is the Croatian host, but the hackathon is taking place in hybrid form for all of you who aren’t in Zagreb.
