31.05.2022.

We’re just about to step into June and that means STup!2022 is almost here to launch all those fantastic student startups into orbit! 😀

Applications have been concluded and the competition program, as well as this year’s judges and speakers, have been determined, so let’s see what we can expect from STup! this year, shall we?

The third edition of STup! will once again be realized by the awesome team from the Student Business Incubator at the Faculty of Economics in Split with the support of the City of Split and ICT Županija, as well as the University of Split and the Alliance of the European University of the Seas (SEA-EU).

This international student startup competition is designed to encourage young entrepreneurs, startups, and researchers by giving them the opportunity to share their passion for entrepreneurship and to present themselves to investors of international character, incubator leaders, and accelerators with programs for proactive students.

The main goal of STup! has always been to support student and scientific research startups and allow young entrepreneurs to present their work on the international startup scene.

Furthermore, most of the work required to organize this competition will be handled by students who have the desire to support their fellow students in the realization of entrepreneurial ideas.

Once again STup!2022 competition will be held in a hybrid form: offline in Split at the Faculty of Economics, as well as online via Zoom. Those who won’t join the organizers and other teams in our beautiful city of Split on June 17th and 18th will still be present online.

The novelty of the third edition of STup! is the division of the competing startups into two categories: the early-stage startup category and the research startup category.

Early-stage startups are startup teams formed by undergraduate or graduate students in an early stage of development. The research startup category is for startup teams formed by Ph.D. students with highly developed startup businesses.

The part that remains the same is the competition format: startup presenters will have 5 minutes to pitch and 5 minutes for jury questions. Each category will have separate pitch groups and prizes.

On Day 1 everyone gets to do their pitch after which the finalists will be chosen: the best 6 startups from each category will proceed to the finals on Day 2 when they get to pitch again.

The winners of both categories will be announced after the final pitching rounds on Day 2.

Aside from the competition itself, there will also be plenty of networking opportunities, as well as some interesting lectures given by this year’s STup! speakers.

Now that we went over the competition details, let’s take you through the impressive list of this year’s STup! judges and speakers.

Researching is woven into my DNA, but I am a musician at heart. Interested in too many things and always curious. Forever in love with Split and enchanted by people who teach me new things. When I am not creating content about Split's tech community, you will find me in singing rehearsals, somewhere in nature, in the theater, or with my head stuck in a book. I do my best to live by the verse from the opera "Fedora" by Umberto Giordano: "Love forbids you not to love."
