There is no doubt that, over the past several years, Split has grown and changed in more ways than one. For example, tourism in the city flourished from being focused on sending tourists on their way towards the Dalmatian islands, to making Split the perfect base where visitors stay for days while they go on day trips to nearby islands, national parks, and other sights.

And while the tourism industry plays a significant role in how the city is developing, in recent years Split has witnessed a great boost of activity in its tech industry, too.

However, sometimes Split does get neglected in global overviews due to more opportunities and the perceived increased versatility of the market of the capital Zagreb. That doesn’t stop Split from growing – after all, we are known for our dišpet.

Defiance is roughly the word we’re looking for to translate this term. Although, the sentiment we’re going for with it is more like saying “In your face!” when you achieved something no one believed you could.

Dišpet is the ever-burning inner fire that drives us forward.

Compared to its other tech hub counterparts, Split is quite different. Being Croatia’s second-largest city and having an excellent geographical position on the Adriatic coast, our city will always be a blend of tourism and tech.

Its focus will never be just on its tech ecosystem, but that doesn’t mean it will never be as good as cities focused only on their tech industry, quite the contrary – Split can offer much more!

Its rich cultural and historical heritage, as well as the mild and appealing climate complimented by one of the clearest seas in the world draw people of all profiles to this city.

Therefore, nowadays Split has become quite international – we don’t see only tourists here, but also international tech professionals and digital nomads who have recognized what Split has to offer and decided to call this city their home, for however long.

Furthermore, Split’s tech ecosystem will keep growing as the city has a steadily rising number of private tech companies and regional offices of some global corporations whose employees are enriching our local tech ecosystem while enjoying all the benefits of Split.

No matter the obstacles in its way, it is not surprising that this budding tech community has been steadily growing and gathering momentum in its development.

Therefore, we decided to create an eBook that illustrates what Split and its tech ecosystem have to offer.

This eBook showcases our local tech community by shortly presenting each community player. Educational institutions, various organizations, tech companies, different events, and much more make our growing tech community vibrant and exciting.

Through the Split Tech City eBook, you will get to know Split’s tech ecosystem better! 😀

While Split has already been recognized as one of the tourist hotspots on the Adriatic coast, we think it has proven that it deserves recognition as a tech-oriented city as well. Our city can definitely be that perfect blend of tourism and tech.

We are already sure of that and we’ll keep working towards building and strengthening our tech ecosystem to make everyone else aware of it, too! 😉

p.s. Because our tech community is constantly growing, our eBook will receive regular future updates that will reflect that growth. 🙂

Researching is woven into my DNA, but I am a musician at heart. Interested in too many things and always curious. Forever in love with Split and enchanted by people who teach me new things. When I am not creating content about Split's tech community, you will find me in singing rehearsals, somewhere in nature, in the theater, or with my head stuck in a book. I do my best to live by the verse from the opera "Fedora" by Umberto Giordano: "Love forbids you not to love."
