Support our communityWhat else are you going to do on the beach?! Enjoy the sea?? Get a nice tan in the sun?? Relax by doing nothing?? Ok – we are joking. Of course, you’ll do all those things (and other fun things) this summer! 😉
After all, life’s no fun if we don’t relax every now and then!
However, that relaxation can also be inspiring. And that’s where we come in with the inspirational content we had the chance to create for you during the first and second editions of Split Startups Meetup.
So, while you’re enjoying the summer somewhere in the shade with a cool drink, here are the videos you should take a look at. Especially those of you who, for whatever reason, missed the two awesome meetups we held this year.
During the first edition of Startups Meetup Split, we were treated to an interesting panel discussion titled “Leaving Croatia Without Leaving Croatia”.
Focused on answering the questions related to building a global business from Croatia, the panelists who took the stage to discuss this particular topic were Dario Boras (Parklio), Mario Frančešević (SeekandHit), and Ivan Mrvoš (Include). They were guided through this topic by questions by Michael Freer (ENSOCO) as the panel moderator.
Andreas Spechtler, the founder and CEO of Silicon Castles, was our speaker during the first edition of Startups Meetup Split.
Silicon Castles is a Tech Company Builder and Strategic Business Accelerator that focuses on “European Diamonds” – technology startups with unique business ideas solving real problems, scalable technology, and outstanding Intellectual Property.
Many European startups have great technologies and great talents but do not know how to create global success. During the talk, Andreas demonstrated how to successfully build up a startup from the initial idea to global success using the “Tower for Success” methodology.
To better illustrate the topic he discussed during his lecture, Andreas was joined by the VIABIRDS startup team who use their technology and expertise to enable their customers to successfully implement scalable and specific eGrocery applications in retail.
Ever wondered what the employees had to say about working in a startup? What about the difference between the experiences of employees who have been with a startup from its beginnings – one being a new startup, and one being an already established and even acquired startup? What about founders – as they are essentially the first employees?
We were curious about human experiences in startups, hence the panel discussion titled “Humans of Startups“! This time, our Split Startups Meetup panelists were Iva Kegalj (Litto Agency), Ivan Veštić (GetByBus), and Josip Volarević (dReader). Their discussion was moderated by Startups Meetup Split MC of choice Michael Freer (ENSOCO).
Frano Barović (Nlaw Croatia) started his legal career immediately after graduating from the Faculty of Law of the University of Zagreb in 2013, and in 2017 he opened his own law office based in Zagreb.
From the early days of his legal career, he has worked with international clients, providing legal assistance in commercial and corporate matters while simultaneously developing competencies in dispute resolution and labor law.
Since September 2019, he has been a Nlaw partner for Croatia. He worked on many different cases from the startup sector, covering topics such as the establishment and development of startups, as well as investments in startups on the part of both, investors and founders.
Under his leadership, Nlaw Croatia was recognized very early on as a reliable legal advisor for venture capital investments. They also advise on takeovers and mergers, as well as other financial and business transactions.
To sum it up: Frano knows the law and he knows startups! So make sure to watch this video of his talk – especially if you are at the beginning stages of your startup journey. You might be able to avoid some costly mistakes!
Now you can catch up on inspiration during the #StartupSummer while we’re preparing for the third edition of the best startup meetup in town. Got a suggestion for any of the future Split Startups Meetups? Don’t be shy – let us know!
