Support our communityAnother “Locals’n’Nomads” meetup is behind us! It was held this past Friday at Marvlvs Library Jazz Bar and, aside from being a usually relaxed gettogether of locals and digital nomads, it took everyone who attended down the rabbit hole of the Croatian language.
Because we were gathered at the house where Marko Marulić, the so-called “Father of Croatian literature”, was born, we also threw in a short retelling of who Marulić was, what was his importance for Croatian language and culture, and a reading of his famous work “Judita“.
It may seem like a busy agenda for a relaxed meetup, but we sailed through it with ease!
Digital nomads were especially on fire on Friday, because they all aced the #CrashCourseCroatian lesson prepared by Luka, our teacher in attendance.
Honestly, as locals, we just want to say: hats off to all of you for the willingness and bravery to do your best to speak our language!
We know it’s not easy, as it gives us headaches sometimes, too. So we really appreciate you trying to speak it and wanting to get to know our beautiful country even more through its complicated language.
Overall, it was a fun evening spent getting to know each other and learning new things about Croatia and its language. We even heard a few requests for more in-depth lessons, as well as a repeat of another #CrashCourseCroatian meetup.
That makes us happy, and it also gives us ideas for future meetups. You never know what “Locals’n’Nomads” will come up with!
We will do our best to keep things interesting and can’t wait to see you at the next “Locals’n’Nomads” in April!
