The people behind the camera often play a crucial role in conveying the right message to a community or clients. The product is the foundation, but a strong visual is definitely the window through which others get a glimpse of who we are.

When it comes to the excellent videos from various Split Tech City events, credit goes to Julio Juraga. A long-time collaborator is now becoming a full-fledged member. Meet him!

You’ve always been close to the camera. What did the start of your education look like?

I’m a videographer with a master’s degree in Film, Media Arts, and Animation from the Academy of Arts in Split. Before that, I attended a film workshop at Kino Klub Split. Yes, I’ve always been close to the camera, editing, and visual storytelling.

It wasn’t “love at first sight,” but over time it became clear that this work fulfills and motivates me. It all started with me walking my first digital camera instead of the dog, capturing my first memories that way.

Introduce the community to a few projects you’re most proud of.

I’ve worked on a range of videos, from music videos, documentaries, and promotional content to artistic projects.

During my studies, I became particularly interested in the “road movie” genre, which I also wrote my thesis about. I’m proudest when clients or audiences feel what I tried to convey through my work.

Collaborations with independent artists, musicians, and cultural institutions are especially dear to me, as they combine creativity and community.

How do you adapt to clients when it comes to the technology you use?

I use modern cameras with a wide range of lenses to meet different client needs—and my own. I edit using DaVinci Resolve.

Are you planning to grow your team?

I currently work solo but am open to collaborating with other cinematographers, editors, sound designers, and producers—especially on larger projects.

Why did you join the Split Tech City community?

Because I believe in the power of connecting creatives and the tech community. Split and its surroundings have enormous potential and a rich historical heritage. Split Tech City is a platform that can push us all further and provide inspiration. I’ve filmed many different types of videos for STC, and this kind of collaboration feels more than natural.

If not, catch us on social media and reel in some great things: InstagramLinkedInFacebookX, and for inspiration, you can check out a lecture.

Do you have a business or company focused on development, design, marketing, or another branch that uses technology?

Feel free to reach out, become a member of the community, enjoy the benefits, and help make the most beautiful city in the world the smartest one too. 🚀
