We’re always happy when we can share news on interesting international collaborations that the members of the Split Tech City community are a part of. And one of those is the collaboration between Agilo and Tekla on building a Medusa-powered POS.

In this instance, as Tekla’s implementation partner, the Agilo team worked on and eventually built an iOS application using Expo and React Native on top of Medusa.

Here’s what Kristoffer Juhl, Tekla’s CEO, shared about it: “Our priority was creating a seamless omnichannel experience. The new POS app enables a customer-centric experience where staff can move around the store, take orders on the spot, and leverage the knowledge of customers’ previous online purchases to provide personalized guidance. All with a strong on-brand feel.”

And while Medusa already powers Tekla’s global e-commerce sales in more than 50 countries, this was one step further in enabling customers to feel like shopping hassle-free online at home in any of Tekla’s physical stores.

In essence, Medusa enabled Tekla to reuse its existing commerce infrastructure to handle in-store operations through the POS app created by the Agilo team which enabled omnichannel functionalities without additional effort.

We asked Josip Matić, Agilo’s lead developer on the project, to explain to us a little bit more about how all of this works: “Imagine you’re from the USA and on a holiday in Copenhagen and you enter Tekla’s store.

With the POS system we built, you could have the items you bought at the store shipped directly to your home instead of going through all the hassle of bringing them on the plane back.”

So this is the customers’ point of view, but what about the tech side? Considering Agilo is a Medusa development agency, Josip offered some insights on that, as well: “It was actually surprisingly simple to build fantastic customer experiences like this using Medusa. We used Medusa’s modular building blocks to create Tekla’s new POS application.

We were surprised with how easy it was to set up all the necessary features for the POS app and the omnichannel experience. From the sales channels to the multi-warehouse features, all of it was easy to integrate with Tekla’s existing backend.”

And if any of you reading this are curious and want to know more, or are interested in more in-depth technical info on how all of this works: ask the Agilo team!

They’ll be more than happy to share their know-how from this particular experience with you or even collaborate with you on building your own solutions using Medusa. And we’ll be here to spread the word about it!

After all, we love these types of stories that combine innovative solutions, international collaborations, and living locally while working globally. Congrats, Agilo – the Medusa development agency! 😀

Researching is woven into my DNA, but I am a musician at heart. Interested in too many things and always curious. Forever in love with Split and enchanted by people who teach me new things. When I am not creating content about Split's tech community, you will find me in singing rehearsals, somewhere in nature, in the theater, or with my head stuck in a book. I do my best to live by the verse from the opera "Fedora" by Umberto Giordano: "Love forbids you not to love."
