23.08.2024.

We decided to give you a bit of a warm-up for the Split Tech City Festival by organizing another event a week before, just so you don’t get overwhelmed by jumping right into event season straight from the beach. 😉

The event in question is none other than our Women In Tech Meetup! 😀

We loved the previous editions of this meetup which took place last year with two different panel discussions in March and June, combined with Suzana’s lecture in the later part of the year. And, judging by audience reactions, we’re sure you did, too.

Now, for those who never attended one, let’s briefly go over what Women In Tech stands for in the Split Tech City community.

Women In Tech Meetup

The Women In Tech meetup was originally created because the community recognized the unique challenges girls and women still face in tech-related fields.

This meetup is one of the many projects of Split Tech City and the primary goal of Women In Tech is to direct young girls towards tech occupations, as well as to connect women who are already working in the tech industry.

No matter where you are in your professional development, or what tech-related field you are in, this Split Tech City’s event for women and girls in the tech industry offers a broad range of support and resources to advance women in technology from the classroom to working in the field of their choosing.

In addition, because career and study decisions are made early in life, to increase the number of women in technology, action is required already during schooling.

Therefore, it is important to offer young girls role models in the form of women who are already working in this field – the Women In Tech meetup is just the right thing for that!

While not closed for male attendees, the Women In Tech meetup is based on the assumption that young girls and women would rather choose to attend an event if they were surrounded by other girls and women.

The upcoming edition of Women In Tech

To bring the Women In Tech meetup back in style, from 2023 onwards, we have decided to make it international by having its content be in English. This particular edition of #WomenInTech is brought to you in collaboration with ELEKS, one of Split Tech City Community members.

ELEKS is a global software engineering company with employees in Europe and the USA. ELEKS has been ranked among the top 100 global companies providing professional software engineering and consulting services for over 30 years.

The company employs many high-skilled experts and covers niches from custom software development to product design and technology consulting, making it an ideal choice for many of the world’s leading companies, as well as small and medium-sized businesses.

Another thing they are passionate about at ELEKS is empowering women in technology.

Therefore, it was a given we’ll give them space to discuss this particular topic at one of the Split Tech City Women In Tech meetups.

The ELEKS team member who will share her knowledge and know-how with the audience in Split next week is Kateryna Mora Soria, Head of the Project Management Office at ELEKS.

Kateryna is a dedicated and passionate leader with a 10+ years track record as a high-performing professional in project management and delivery management. She has proven experience delivering projects and programs in complex and sometimes even chaotic environments.

Kateryna Mora Soria

She is passionate about the ongoing development of new skills and obtaining new knowledge, and enjoys working with multicultural teams leveraging her language skills in Spanish, English, and Greek. Outside of work, Kateryna is an advocate for autism and a horse-riding aficionado.

Kateryna is our chosen lecturer to deliver the talk titled: “Mastering Women’s Leadership: Achieving Balance in Work and Life”.

The lecture will cover the following points:

  • defining women’s leadership and its unique strengths
  • strategies for successfully balancing professional and personal responsibilities
  • overcoming gender stereotypes in leadership roles
  • the importance of self-care and mental well-being for sustained success
  • the role of mentorship and networking in achieving work-life harmony

We invite you all, women and men alike, to join us next week at The Works coworking on Thursday, August 29, starting at 19:30. Only thing you need to do is sign up and prepare to be inspired and empowered!

See you at the Women In Tech Meetup! 😀

Researching is woven into my DNA, but I am a musician at heart. Interested in too many things and always curious. Forever in love with Split and enchanted by people who teach me new things. When I am not creating content about Split's tech community, you will find me in singing rehearsals, somewhere in nature, in the theater, or with my head stuck in a book. I do my best to live by the verse from the opera "Fedora" by Umberto Giordano: "Love forbids you not to love."
