Another “Locals’n’Nomads” meetup, another adventure! This time we will be taking you through the wonders of the Croatian language (and culture). As usual, both nomads and locals are welcome. However, locals might have the added task of helping out fellow nomads this time.

But, first things first – time, date, and location! The meetup is scheduled to take place on Friday, March 18th, starting at 18:00. The place where we’ll meet is Marvlvs Library Jazz Bar. Why there?

Because this bar (as its name indicates) is located in the very house where Marko Marulić was born. Who is Marko Marulić? To find that out, you should attend the meetup!

Because, after we all gather together, we’ll start our Croatian adventure with a short story about Marko Marulić and his importance for the Croatian language and culture. This will then be followed by – we hope you’re ready for this – a crash course of the Croatian language basics!

The #CrashCourseCroatian lesson will be delivered by Luka Krstulović. Some of you might have met him at one of the previous “Locals’n’Nomads” meetups, and some of you might already be learning Croatian under his watchful guidance.

For those of you who have no idea who Luka is, we asked him to briefly introduce himself: “I’m an ESL teacher and pedagogue by trade, and it took one “Locals’n’Nomads” meetup to meet my first expat students.

Now, I’m teaching – Croatian! It is certainly a different kind of challenge, but it’s an interesting way to test my skills.

It’s always a delight to see learners grasp the fundamentals of a language!

Hopefully, you too can take your first steps with Croatian with this crash course of the basics. Vidimo se u Marula!”

Now, don’t fret if you do not understand the last sentence of Luka’s introduction – just come to the meetup, and he’ll teach you what it means. We hope you’re ready for this “Locals’n’Nomads” with-a-twist where we will hang out and learn together!

Marvlvs Library Jazz Bar on Friday, March 18th, at 18:00. Sign up to attend and vidimo se!

Researching is woven into my DNA, but I am a musician at heart. Interested in too many things and always curious. Forever in love with Split and enchanted by people who teach me new things. When I am not creating content about Split's tech community, you will find me in singing rehearsals, somewhere in nature, in the theater, or with my head stuck in a book. I do my best to live by the verse from the opera "Fedora" by Umberto Giordano: "Love forbids you not to love."
