When we started with “Locals’n’Nomads” the general idea was: “We’ll do it and, if people like it, we’ll keep doing it.” So, here we are – about to toast the holiday season with meetup number six.

That means we’ve been hosting “Locals’n’Nomads” and gathering Split’s digital nomads and members of the local community together for half a year already! Time certainly flies, as it seems that the first meetup was only yesterday.

This one, also the last one in 2021, is set in a holiday mood: we plan to toast the past year and the upcoming one by hanging out together and helping those who can greatly benefit from just a little bit of our aid.

The true meaning of holiday cheer!

That is also the reason why this particular “Locals’n’Nomads” meetup is the first one that has the condition you need to fulfill to attend: paying the attendance fee in the form of a donation of 50 Croatian kunas to Down21 Association.

Now, this particular donation is an absolute win-win for all, and we’re going to explain why. Split Tech City might be the host of this meetup, but we still need a place to go to. This time we are heading to D16 Coffee Shop located in the Diocletian’s Palace (Dominisova 16) as the D16 team was kind enough to offer a roof over our heads for the meetup.

For those of you who don’t know, aside from making amazing coffee, the D16 team also has a big heart!

That is the reason why, during this holiday season, they decided to organize a charity event to help out their friends from Down21 Association.

From December 1st to January 6th everyone who stops by D16 Coffee Shop for a cup of coffee or tea has a chance to do some good by participating in the Christmas lottery.

The rules are simple:

  • donate 50 Croatian kunas
  • this gets you two D16 coffees or teas of your choice and a possibility to win the main lottery prize
D16 for Down21 – your photo for their smile!

To keep things interesting, for your chance to win the main prize you need to get a tiny bit creative by taking a photo with the D16 polaroid camera of anything or anyone in and around the D16 Coffee Shop and write your name and contact on the back of the photo.

The photos taken will be on display at D16 throughout the holidays and will be gathered together on January 6th to draw the winner. The one who ends up being the luckiest wins this: a moka pot, 250 grams of D16 Dominis blend coffee, two D16 coffee cups, and a private coffee training and workshop given by the D16 team to the winner and her/his five friends.

Of course, after finding out about this awesome initiative by the D16 team, we decided to join in! No matter where the “Locals’n’Nomads” takes place, we always have a few drinks, so by hosting the meetup at D16 Coffee Shop these drinks will be for a good cause. Like we said: win-win for all!

Therefore, we will be expecting you at D16 Coffee Shop on December 16th at 18:00.

Get ready to meet new people, drink really good coffee (or tea), have some fun, and, together with the D16 team, help the Down21 Association!

If you’re still unsure about attending – and we have no idea why that would be the case – take a look at the overviews of the previous meetups: first, second, third, fourth, and fifth. We hope that will be enough to give you an idea of what to expect, as well as clear up any lingering doubts about coming to “Locals’n’Nomads”.

An even bigger bonus of the sixth meetup is that you get a chance to do a good deed by simply attending and drinking good coffee. What are you waiting for?!

Everyone is welcome at the “Locals’n’Nomads” and we cannot wait to see you at our sixth meetup in a row, so sign up!

Together let’s give a helping hand to the D16 team in their effort to help Down21!

Researching is woven into my DNA, but I am a musician at heart. Interested in too many things and always curious. Forever in love with Split and enchanted by people who teach me new things. When I am not creating content about Split's tech community, you will find me in singing rehearsals, somewhere in nature, in the theater, or with my head stuck in a book. I do my best to live by the verse from the opera "Fedora" by Umberto Giordano: "Love forbids you not to love."
