12.02.2024.

Split Tech City nurtures the concept of information and knowledge sharing within our community and beyond, so we have decided to initiate a series of meetups to gather local professionals, both international and native, and Split’s digital nomads.

With that goal in mind, the first Locals’n’Nomads took place in July 2021.

And now, for the 25th edition of this meetup, we’re bringing you an interesting collaboration with Expat in Croatia!

But – first things first. Let’s tackle the where and when first, shall we?! On Friday, February 23, starting at 18:30, we’ll welcome you at Smartspace (Tončićeva 3 in Split’s old town). And to know how many of you we can expect, you should sign up, of course!

Smartspace – our home for the evening 🙂

Now – onto the content of this edition of “Locals’n’Nomads”!

Did we say “content”?! Yes! Therefore, we have a slight change in the format of this particular meetup. Aside from the always wonderful networking, this time we’ll have a talk accompanied by a Q&A session and a moderated group discussion. You up for it?! We’re sure you are! 😉

The content of the 25th Locals’n’Nomads looks like this:

  • Sara Dyson of Expat in Croatia will give a talk Five QuestionsAbout Croatia’sDigital Nomad Permitaccompanied by in-person Q&A
  • Michael Freer will moderate a group discussion titled Two Ways of Being a Digital Nomad: Lonely Wolf or Part of a Pack
Sara Dyson

Many internationals who moved or are in the process of moving to Croatia know Sara and her Expat in Croatia team. They are experts in getting you through Croatian bureaucracy, as well as all things Croatia in general.

They get a lot of questions about Croatia’s digital nomad permit, so Sara decided to share some of the most common questions and answers to them during her talk. Those who attend this “Locals’n’Nomads” meetup will also have the added benefit of asking Sara their own questions during the Q&A session.

Just sayin’! 😉

Michael Freer

Michael almost doesn’t need an introduction. Ever since the Split Tech City Festival, we believe there are three Michaels running around, so you should come to “Locals’n’Nomads” just to see which of the three will show up.

Jokes aside, while we were throwing around some interesting topics for these meetups, Michael posed an interesting question on the benefits and bad sides of “digital-nomading (Yes, this is now a verb.) solo or with a group. It piqued our curiosity, so we decided to add it in. Open discussion style with one of the three Michaels moderating.

Let’s hear your stories and experiences! 😀

A snippet from the #SplitTechCityNetworking

Naturally, as all Split Tech City events do, we’ll wrap up this get-together with some great networking so you get to meet new people and forge new friendships. Maybe even decide to collaborate on something together.

We never know what #SplitTechCityNetworking will turn into, but one thing’s for sure – it’s always something positive! 🙂

Join us by signing up for this edition of the “Locals’n’Nomads” meetup – we can’t wait to see you at Smartspace on February 23 at 18:30!

Researching is woven into my DNA, but I am a musician at heart. Interested in too many things and always curious. Forever in love with Split and enchanted by people who teach me new things. When I am not creating content about Split's tech community, you will find me in singing rehearsals, somewhere in nature, in the theater, or with my head stuck in a book. I do my best to live by the verse from the opera "Fedora" by Umberto Giordano: "Love forbids you not to love."
