Split Tech City at DK Festival 2024: Split State of Mind

Split Tech City

Split Tech City

09.04.2024.

The true meaning of the phrase “Split state of mind” is difficult to explain, almost as difficult as the meaning of the word “dišpet” – translated as “spite” but having a deeper and more complex meaning than just that.

Interestingly enough, both of these are a “Split thing”. 😉

So it’s no wonder that, when asked and tasked to participate in the program of this year’s DK Festival, we decided that will be our chosen topic. Therefore, we’re bringing a splash of Split State of Mind to Rovinj!

The DK Festival

DK Festival, known as Dani komunikacija in Croatian, is recognized as one of the best events in the world according to the British Association Excellence Awards due to its out-of-the-box approach, unique festival offer, high-quality production, and organization.

This year’s edition of the DK Festival – which is known for bringing together a variety of professionals from the communication industry who are key to creating and initiating change – will once more gather everyone in Rovinj starting this Thursday.

Dunja Ivana Ballon, director of the DK Festival, at last year’s Split Tech City Festival

Unmatched atmosphere, packed halls, high-quality and current topics, global leaders, and charging of creative batteries in the spring atmosphere of Rovinj’s Lone Hotel are the basis of the DK Festival greatness which always gathers a large community of communicators.

The official program has been announced already, the tickets are on sale and can still be bought, and Rovinj is waiting for you all!

Split Tech City at DK2024

With our participation in the program of the DK Festival with the Split Tech City panel, our cooperation with the DK Festival team is entering a higher level.

Last year we tasked Pinija Poljaković to be our ambassador at the DK Festival 2023 and in September hosted Dunja Ivana Ballon, director of the DK Festival, HURA, and IAB Croatia, at the Split Tech City Festival.

This prompted Dunja and her DK team to invite us to organize a panel discussion at this year’s edition of the DK Festival. We happily accepted her invitation and started brainstorming the whole concept.

Knowing us and the work we do, we decided to use this opportunity to highlight Split’s best sides! 😀

Moderated by Pinija Poljaković (Art Media), our panel discussion titled “Decentralized Dialogues: Split State of Mind by Split Tech City” will host the following panelists: Luka Šipić (Vrh komunikacije), Toni Miličević (Locastic), and Romana Ban (Split Tech City).

This Split Tech City panel discussion at the DK Festival will take place on Saturday at 10.45 in the DK LLLounge. Don’t miss it if you’re at #DK2024! 🙂

Split State of Mind

In recent decades, the city of Split has often been labeled in the media as “grad slučaj” – the most closely translated as “city – case”. Meaning? The word “case” has several meanings and, to fit this particular translation, we chose two:

  • an incident or set of circumstances under official investigation by the police
  • an instance of a disease, injury, or problem

We believe now you might start getting an idea about the meaning of this phrase. It is a term that leads to a negative perception of our hometown for a large part of the general public, especially outside of Split. Similarly, the phrase “Split state of mindcan also be taken negatively.

Is there any truth to these allegations? What do marketing and communication experts who live and work in their hometown – Split – think about this topic? Is Split really the ideal place to achieve that desired work-life balance? Does our city have the capacity and potential to become a desirable destination for conference tourism?

What is the role of advertising and quality communication in conveying the image of Split as a city with a strong entrepreneurial, cultural, and creative scene? What has changed in the last 10 years and does anyone do anything in that city of Split or do they just drink coffee in the sun all day?

Yes – we decided to flip the switch! For us, “Split State of Mind” is a story of positivity and hard work spiced with a change in perception. 😉

We are looking forward to this DK Festival panel discussion, but also to our active participation in a truly rich program of this festival that will certainly not leave anyone indifferent. 😀

Get your DK Festival tickets and see you in Rovinj in a few days!
