16.09.2024.

We’re about to paint the town in 00FFE1! 😀

Everything organized by Alen Marić, we wholeheartedly support! After delighting us with the first edition of the CYAN – Festival of Visual Culture at the end of last year, this year he decided not only to repeat the event but also to raise it to an even higher level.

The second edition of the CYAN Festival will be held from October 10 to October 12 at the City Youth Theater Split, and you can already get your tickets. 🙂

Along with Alen, this extraordinary event is organized by the Design Hub Split and the DUMP Association of Young Developers.

Design Hub Split works to strengthen the community through its activities with various lectures and exhibitions. This conference is a step forward for the initiative as they bring foreign lecturers to Split and strive to build and expand the community of professionals and experts in design.

While Design Hub Split handles everything related to the organization, DUMP does the production. We know that this cooperation will give excellent results! 😀

At CYAN Festival 2024, graphic design, illustration, typography, architecture, and photography will be discussed by experts from whom both beginners and experienced professionals have something to learn!

Alen had this to share regarding this year’s CYAN Festival edition:

“This year at the CYAN Festival, we are increasing the number of lectures, and, as you noticed, we moved the festival dates to a month earlier, so it will still be warm. This is important because the festival is held in the old city center, which in recent years has not been intended for the local community, and this is an opportunity for coming back to it and bringing something for both the local and the global community.

What you can expect from the CYAN Festival this year are more lecturers from different fields of visual culture from all over Europe, lecturers who have never been to Split, so you will have the opportunity to listen to them live for the first time and talk with them and of course meet a lot of new people and create new friendships either in business or for life.”

Among the main lecturers of this year’s CYAN Festival will be Jonathan Barnbrook, one of the most influential graphic designers today.

Jonathan Barnbrook is known for his work in typography, design activism, and collaborations with cultural icons such as David Bowie, for whom he designed album covers including “Heathen“, “The Next Day“, and the iconic “Blackstar” released in 2016 shortly before Bowie’s death, for which he won a Grammy. Among his many collaborators were John Foxx, Tuxedomoon, and Cult With No Name.

He gained wide recognition thanks to his subversive and politically engaged designs, which often criticize consumerism, corporate culture, and social injustices.

At this year’s CYAN Festival, Jonathan Barnbrook brings a story about pushing the boundaries of visual communication.

Don’t miss this fantastic event – get your CYAN tickets on time!
