DDD is an approach to software development. It brings together business experts and developers who collaboratively define and translate a domain model into diagrams. The model is designed in a way that developers can easily implement, while the business knowledge of experts is transformed into working software.
Throughout the process, experts and developers regularly meet to exchange knowledge. The domain is approached through subdomains, each with its own model. Each subdomain has its own boundaries and a specific language.
The language used to describe the model and entities is called the “ubiquitous language.” This means it is used by all participants: developers, business experts, testers, and users. The language is common to the entire team and is used throughout all stages of development.
Darko Kantić is a software architect with over 20 years of experience in the IT industry. He specializes in designing systems using DDD methodology. He has worked for clients such as NYSE Euronext, Oracle, Pfizer, and La Poste. Darko holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Manchester (UK).
