Neutroni are a community of young people who have been actively participating in Split’s technological and educational ecosystem for years. Although they have long been present through events, conferences, and volunteering, they are now officially part of the Split Tech City community.

We spoke with Mia Petrović, a core team member, and Viktor Viljac, Director, about who Neutroni are, what they do, and what their plans are.

Which projects, programs, or collaborations are you most proud of so far?

We are especially proud of the Aj+Ti Conference for Youth, which we organize independently with the help of many generous and supportive individuals. Despite being a very young organization, we have already successfully delivered two editions of the conference, with the third one just around the corner.

We have also participated as volunteers and co-organizers at the Split Tech City Festival, Enter Conference, Festival of Excellence, and Shift Conference. In addition, some of our members have had the opportunity to step into the role of speakers at both the STC Festival and Enter Conference.

How do you connect education and technology in your work?

The Center of Excellence plays a key role in helping us connect education and technology through various workshops, lectures, and the Aj+Ti Conference.

Inspired by the conferences we attended ourselves, we decided to organize a technology conference for young people, knowing that formal education often does not fully satisfy the curiosity and ambitions of today’s younger generations.

It is also worth mentioning that several of our members are actively conducting research on healthy habits, further demonstrating the diversity of interests within our community.

Do your members participate in international or local projects, and what are their experiences like

Thanks to our cooperation with the Center of Excellence, our members have participated in the Erasmus programme, which enabled us to travel to Norway.

The Aj+Ti Conference has become well known in its own right. During the summer holidays of 2024, we also launched the Priša Healthy Habits Marathon, an initiative we are extremely proud of, as it encouraged many young people to improve their everyday routines.

Through our Volonter.hr initiative, we organize numerous volunteer activities, further strengthening social engagement and responsibility among young people.

Why did you join the Split Tech City community?

We joined the Split Tech City community to more easily spread positive stories and ideas. We are very happy to see STC continuously growing and attracting new members.

We have been involved in community events for a long time, and we believe that now is the right moment to contribute even more. We hope this engagement will be returned through mentorships and partnerships that are essential for the long-term success of Neutroni’s mission.

Is there anything you would especially like to highlight — upcoming plans, events, or collaborations?

On March 27, we are organizing the third edition of the Aj+Ti Conference, by young people, for young people, at FESB. This year, we decided to redesign the overall approach to the event in order to offer high-quality content tailored to different age groups.

We are preparing a rich program of lectures, panels, and workshops covering topics such as IT, design, leadership and personal development, mental health, and financial literacy. We hope that the third edition will break attendance records and that participants will leave with valuable knowledge and experiences.
