Motion Plus Design finally came to Split and, on September 15th at The Works coworking, held one of its Satellite events.

As an industry leader promoting the art of Motion Design worldwide, Motion Plus Design has existed since 2015 and consistently produced sold-out events showcasing the top motion designers, graphic artists, title animators, and creatives.

And Split was no different with a full house! 😀

Young and a bit older, seasoned designers and those merely curious – the attendance proved that we needed an event like this in our city.

This first-ever Motion Plus Design event in Split was supported by Zagreb’s Studio Size and attended by the artists Josip Perić, Milivoj and Veljko Popović, and Andrej Todorovski with Alexandre Malheiro serving as the event’s host and presenter.

An exciting program of Motion Plus Design Split

Josip – known also as The Hiena – is a product designer working as a freelancer for startups that work in science and Web3. He shared his story, how he started creating, more about the work he made and reasons why, the way motion design slowly but surely crept into his creative life and things that helped him on his creative path.

As established authors of domestic animated films with a presence on the international film scene and collaborations with numerous other artists and producers, Milivoj and Veljko had a lot of interesting stories to share with the Motion Plus Design Split audience.

From their work at Prime Render Studios on producing several award-winning animated films to working on The Lokals – an animated collection of 5,000 NFTs that is still in the process of being realized in collaboration with artist Božo Balova and Blank, there was a lot to learn and the audience benefited greatly from the Q&A sessions.

Andrej, a Motion Designer and Art Director based in Zagreb with over 10 years of experience in the industry, came to Split to talk about how and why he started working in Motion Design, showcase prominent projects, and discuss his insights into the industry from the perspective of both a beginner and a professional – something everyone in the audience could relate with.

The essence of Motion Plus Design

Ronan and Kook, the creators of Motion Plus Design, say that Motion Plus Design is the Art of graphics in motion and, as an art form, it is gaining momentum all over the world carried by the new generations of artists among the most creative and sought-after in the entire design industry.

Its Satellite events are created with the idea of nurturing and connecting the local design community wherever these events are launched with Split being a fine example of exactly that. Lots of interesting and inspiring local stories from our four designers, and lots of local design enthusiasts in attendance.

We can wait for next year and Motion Plus Design Split 2024! 😀

And, in the meantime, the Motion Plus Design team has a dedicated section of their website where they share videos from their big worldwide events and another section dedicated to learning opportunities providing inspiration to all who are in pursuit of more knowledge on this particular art form.

So, head over there and learn something new while you wait for another great event in Split! 😉

Researching is woven into my DNA, but I am a musician at heart. Interested in too many things and always curious. Forever in love with Split and enchanted by people who teach me new things. When I am not creating content about Split's tech community, you will find me in singing rehearsals, somewhere in nature, in the theater, or with my head stuck in a book. I do my best to live by the verse from the opera "Fedora" by Umberto Giordano: "Love forbids you not to love."
