The fourth edition of the Visual Culture Festival KOMBO will be held from October 26th to 29th in Split’s Dom mladih (Youth Center), and designers, students, and other creative people will be able to attend lectures, talks, discourses, workshops, exhibitions, and concerts.

KOMBO is the result of the hard work of the DVK Association. 🙂

This year’s theme of the KOMBO festival is Context – Space – Design.

The focus is on the interaction between man and space in the context of visual arts – direct and indirect interventions in space that shape our everyday life. The concept of space spans many fields of study – it is present in philosophy, mathematics, physics, and fine arts.

Space is boundless and contains everything created, it determines human existence, its way of life, and the structure of society. Man and society modify space according to their needs, while space in turn affects the existence of all living beings.

It is interesting to note that, apart from the obvious presence and importance of space in human lives, we cannot experience space by itself.

Space is completely shaped by the volumes contained within it. We are surrounded by various spaces – both physical (urban or natural) and virtual.

The question is, how much influence do we have on how we will use space and for whom it is intended? Who shapes the space? What is the role of design, architecture, urban planning, and visual culture in the system we live in today? How and in what way do we treat space, how do we create it?

Does space exist if there are no people in it?

If you are a designer, student, or creative, join the KOMBO Festival from October 26th to 29th for a variety of interesting and engaging content – lectures, talks, discourses, workshops, exhibitions, and concerts.

In addition to 11 lectures, 3 workshops, and 2 exhibitions, KOMBO also brings you a concert by the band KOIKOI and the closing of the Festival with Adriatic Social Club DJs.

Don’t miss being awed by KOMBO 2022!

About author:

Nikolina Kukoč

Researching is woven into my DNA, but I am a musician at heart. Interested in too many things and always curious. Forever in love with Split and enchanted by people who teach me new things. When I am not creating content about Split's tech community, you will find me in singing rehearsals, somewhere in nature, in the theater, or with my head stuck in a book. I do my best to live by the verse from the opera "Fedora" by Umberto Giordano: "Love forbids you not to love."
