Some new kids are already here. A generation that will live and work in a world demanding skills our current education system simply doesn’t cover.
School won’t disappear, but it must evolve, because the market and society are setting new rules.
Irena Orlović, M.Sc., founder of the first International Harfa School in Split and a pioneer in implementing socio-emotional programs, has been transforming the way children learn and grow for years. Through her work, Irena brings insights into how education can (and must?) look today.
Children no longer need to simply memorize information; they need to learn how to learn, how to think critically, how to adapt, and how to create value in a world that is constantly changing.
This is exactly what heutagogy offers — an approach to education that puts the child at the center, encouraging them to become explorers, creators, and leaders of their own knowledge.
We believe we couldn’t have found a better speaker than Irena for this topic. Today, Harfa School shapes young leaders and helps children strengthen their cognitive and socio-emotional skills through programs recommended by the scientific community (IB – International Baccalaureate).
Through her publishing house Harfa, Irena has edited and published more than 100 books by internationally recognized neuroscientists, psychologists, and psychotherapists over the past 17 years, under the slogan “Books That Love Children.”
Her work has earned her multiple awards and recognition, including being named Social Entrepreneur of the Year by the KRUG Association of Business Women, under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Croatia.
And what about teachers? They won’t disappear.
Their role is becoming more important than ever.
They are no longer just lecturers but mentors and guides through the development of cognitive and socio-emotional skills.
Irena will discuss these and many other important questions in a conversation with Pinija Poljaković, a well-known friend of the festival. Pinija is an experienced coach for public speaking and media appearances, and a moderator of numerous conferences and events — which is why we’re looking forward to a lively and constructive conversation!
If you are a parent, educator, entrepreneur, or simply believe that everything starts with these new kids, come and take a look into a future that doesn’t ask if we’re ready — and depends on us to make it as bright as possible.
