If you follow Split Tech City and our work, you may have noticed that we have been mentioning some kind of festival throughout August. Some of you even went through all the trouble of using translation tools to translate the content that was written about it and contacted us with additional questions.

Needless to say, your interest is highly appreciated!

So, to answer the most important questions:

Did you really think we would organize something this big and important and then fail to properly inform you about it from the very beginning? We would never do that. The reason why all the information about the Festival is in Croatian is that this year, for its first-ever edition, we decided to keep it as simple as possible and have only Croatian content at the Festival.

Now, you may start to think that is unfair, considering the ever-growing community of internationals in Split, as well as the increasing number of digital nomads, but please – hear us out. It is our first Festival of Technology and Entrepreneurship, so we wanted to simplify everything as much as possible to make sure all goes according to plan.

Think about it: if this one goes well – and we will make sure it does – the only way is up and the only thing left is to grow!

Meaning, there is a very good chance that this time next year we will organize the second edition of the Festival that will last longer and have content in both, Croatian as well as the English language. And isn’t that something to look forward to?

Now, about this year’s edition. We will give you a preview of the content just to know what great things you can expect in 2022. The Festival of Technology and Entrepreneurship will be held over two days, on 14th and 15th September. The location we chose is a stunning one – the Open Air Cinema Bačvice.

This two-day event aims to bring together all those who want to actively participate in strengthening the local tech community: from our lecturers and panelists, over someone with significant experience in the field, to a student willing to learn something new, and everyone in between.

That is why the Split Tech City team worked so hard to come up with a program that will have something for everyone. Of course, while the festival-goers take a break from various lectures and panel discussions we have planned, they can use the scheduled networking sessions as an opportunity to connect with new and interesting people.

We wanted to create a festival about the community for the community!

The Festival will include some of Split Tech City’s activities that usually happen throughout the year. To start with, we will kick it off with a bang in the form of a celebration of mistakes with a FuckUp panel discussion, which will exclusively discuss the mistakes made and lessons learned. We also dedicated some time to lectures focused on mindfulness and physical well-being.

Our startups will also have a spotlight shined on them in a panel discussion focused on all the challenges faced while starting a startup company. An interesting panel discussion about building a local tech community with examples of various communities across Croatia is another shining star in our brilliant plan.

That is just the gist of it. For the details and short snippets of all the interesting points that will be mentioned during the two days we will spend in the festival mood next week, you will have to patiently wait for the overview of our first Festival of Technology and Entrepreneurship.

In the meantime, wish us luck with making this dream of ours a reality and start getting ready for next year!

Researching is woven into my DNA, but I am a musician at heart. Interested in too many things and always curious. Forever in love with Split and enchanted by people who teach me new things. When I am not creating content about Split's tech community, you will find me in singing rehearsals, somewhere in nature, in the theater, or with my head stuck in a book. I do my best to live by the verse from the opera "Fedora" by Umberto Giordano: "Love forbids you not to love."
