The County of Split-Dalmatia has launched a project of ICT County covering a series of activities, the ultimate goal of which is the long-term solution of structural problems and the development of the ICT sector in the Split-Dalmatia County and the promotion of the same as the “ICT County”.

The achievement of the main goal will be pursued through a whole range of measures: the popularization of IT professions and IT education with the aim of increasing the number of IT professionals and active IT companies, improving IT infrastructure, co-financing and encouraging IT projects, creating young IT startups, IT association, fostering IT tourism development, and launching ICT for EU projects.

Activities related to the ICT County are divided into:

• a business part that will be developed through the PICS (Split-dalmatia County Preincubation Center) in FESB premises, and later through the ŽIC (County IT Center) at Ruđer Bošković 25 (ex Varteks). The goal of implementing a business part of the activity is to facilitate communication between IT professionals, companies and the IT community, and provide them with space for action, development and sharing of ideas, and provide employers with the opportunity to easily find quality and educated IT staff.

• Educational part – EDIT (Educational IT Center) SDI, which deals with mastering the basics of programming and spreading information literacy in primary and secondary schools, through free schooling programming, all in order to popularize and make accessible to as many children as programming and other IT skills.
